About me

Micaela is a Latinx birthworker, born and raised in Costa Rica. She's warm, energetic, and loving. Micaela is a mother of two young children, an herbalist, and an artist. She is passionate about birth and postpartum care as a transformational space, and believes in the importance of empowerment, support, and evidence-based care in preparation for and during birth.

Micaela provides a safe space for learning, growing, and healing during and after pregnancy, while accommodating each person's needs and desires — whether birth is in the hospital, home, or birth center.

She has trained extensively with a diverse group of traditional midwives and birth workers from Latin America, where she learned techniques including Rebozo, Belly Binding, and the Postpartum Hip Closure Ceremony. Alongside technique, she learned and incorporates an overall grounding approach to the transformational moments of birth and postpartum.

Micaela believes in and advocates for an inclusive and safe space for all communities. She gave birth to her two children at home, with the support of midwives and her partner. She understands the power of birth and is deeply passionate about advocating for an empowering experience.

She provides trauma-informed care and equity, treasures vulnerability, and is also a beacon for strength within your process. She believes that it is within community that we can all thrive in life and parenthood.

Micaela es bilingüe — español (lengua materna) e inglés fluido.
