Ishanai Jones

Ishanai is a full-spectrum doula, peer lactation counselor, and placenta encapsulation specialist doing business as Doula Necessities. She takes pleasure in serving families in search of wisdom, advocacy, and specialized support. As a doula, she's had the opportunity to be a mentor to peers in delivery rooms and beyond.

Her professional background is in childcare and aviation — Ishanai spent several years as a preschool and nursery assistant and four years traveling as a flight attendant before finding her passion for maternity care. Birth work is a lifestyle Ishanai can't imagine giving up; she loves teaching others and the many opportunities to build community and celebrate life.

When she's not wearing her doula hat, she's likely in a pair of mom jeans on a nature walk with her little one and taking care of her family. She's an eldest child, wife, aunt, sister, and mother. Ishanai previously worked as a clinical technician at the Bryn Mawr birth center and looks up to an elite group of midwives in the Philly metro area.

She 'fulljoys' learning new things, meeting new people, visiting new places, and being surrounded by love, support, nature, and gratitude. Life is such a special and unique experience for each of us, and Ishanai makes it her mission to embrace and empower the beauty in differences.
